This month we are highlighting Karol Dias, tattoo artist (and new mom!) for our Artist Favorite's series. I met Karol at the Philidelphia show in 2024 and immediately fell in love with her work. She creates beautiful line work with her powerhouse Torque! Karol is an amazing artist who makes graceful art.
We sat down for a brief catch-up and talked about her new journey as a mom. See the interview below!
Q: How has motherhood colored the way you view your art and creative journey?
A: My journey started one month ago and I can say that I was filled with a light and unconditional love that I had never felt before, I feel even more inspired and I can't wait to put all of this into my work.

Q: What have been the most beautiful — and most challenging — parts of balancing your studio life with being a new mom?
A: I'm still not back at the studio and I know it's going to be something to work on but I'm excited. My clients have been very understanding since I got pregnant.
Q: Has your little one sparked any new imagery, symbolism, or meaning in your designs?
A: Absolutely yes, she is my inspiration every day, she is so delicate and feminine just like my work.
Q: Do you find a connection between the act of creating art and being a new mom?
A: They are different jobs that demand everything from me at the same time, this time away from the studio made me feel even more connected to tattooing
Q: Where do you tattoo out of?
A: In Los Angeles, at Thirty One Tattoos, in an inspiring area of Hollywood.
Q: How long have you been tattooing?
A: 12 years and counting
Q: What is your style of tattooing?
A: A unique blend of Botanical, floral, fine-line and blackwork.

Q: What are your favorite artist tools to work with?
A: I love my Torque 4.2, Envy gen 2 carts and Jet Black product line. Those are my go-tos.
Q: What words of encouragement would you share with other artist-mamas navigating this tender, transformative chapter?
A: Just keep following mamas, include your little ones in this beautiful journey, things go as they should and we as women solve everything masterfully.
Karol Dias is a Brazilian tattoo artist internationally recognized for her fine line botanical work. She began her career in Umuarama, Paraná, and rose to prominence in São Paulo, where her delicate, freehand compositions earned her a dedicated clientele. Now based in Los Angeles, Karol continues to develop her unique approach drawing directly on the body to create organic, site-specific designs that highlight the natural flow of each individual.

Karol has also been invited to serve as a judge at major international tattoo events, where her expertise and artistic vision are highly respected. Known for her precision, sensitivity, and originality, she remains a leading voice in contemporary fine line and botanical tattooing.
